Met Hotel Amsterdam

The room was spotless and staff were really friendly. Location was perfect to get to and from the airport. About an hour walk from the city centre, so we had to rely on public transport, which was okay with us.

The room wasn't quite spacious enough to be a twin room. Also of the beds were separated further, it would interfere with the light panels. Furthermore, there wasn't enough storage space for clothes of two people.

The hotel was very nicely decorated in a contemporary way. Staff were friendly and personable, the room was large with a great working AC. Toiletries were nice, and the breakfast selection was plentiful with some delicious items: the pastries, the various breads, yoghurt and granola, and the mushrooms deserve a standout. Handily placed opposite a Lidl. The bartender seemed extraordinarily confused about what a Hugo Spritz was, and tried telling me they didn’t have it on the menu, despite me pointing out the exact drink and ingredients in front of us on the menu, although to be fair they did call it something different. However! I saw the bartender watch an instructional video on how to do it and made me a very tasty Hugo Spritz. So I applaud his tenacity and eagerness to learn!

The food at breakfast was very good but there were items that didn’t work for me, purely from a flavour perspective. The chicken sausages had a strange texture and aftertaste, same goes for the beef salami and turkey bacon. The veal “ham” was good, however. The toilet is separate from the shower area, making it handy for those travelling in numbers, but the bathroom door doesn’t reach the floor, is frosted glass, and is installed with an automatic sensor light. The hotel is well placed for public transportation, but fair warning: it is rather a slog to get into central Amsterdam. However, the journey is pleasant and it really is nice to be in the peace and quiet.
