The Inn at Middleton Place

Truly atmospheric! Brutalist architecture on the riverfront of a centuries-old plantation! Enjoyed walking the paths, the almost complete lack of pavement, gazing at the river, the sound of the animals in the trees at night (spooky!) The room was spacious, minimalist, completely comfortable. Fine friendly service in common areas. This is not a fancy resort, but a very tranquil and well designed place to stay. I will come back in springtime.

A slight musty smell in the room , was a little offputting but i got used to it. In the hot sticky July weather so much condensation on the outside of the windows it obscured the view of the river. Not much to do about it i guess, given the high elevation of the rooms ,up a tall set of stairs, keeping out of the flood zone. I am from the pacific coast so have very little experience with the weather of the south.

So peaceful and a great design in a beautiful place

The included breakfast is awful. This country really needs to wake up when it comes to food, it's embarrassing. The restaurant at Middleton place serves great local food, why is the hotel breakfast all poison?
