The Hotel is Nice but area leaves a lot to be desired.

The Oxford Hotel has a lot going for it. The location is convenient, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the included perks, like the bourbon tasting, were a nice touch that made the stay feel a little more special. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the noise and the surrounding area. The windows don’t seem to seal well, so outside noise comes through very clearly. We were awoken in the middle of the night by extremely loud music that literally shook the room. While still trying to fall asleep, we heard gunshots on the street below, right next to our room. The incident resulted in two people being injured, and while that’s obviously beyond the hotel’s control, the lack of sound insulation made the situation even more unsettling. We had booked the hotel for a romantic getaway, but the constant noise and overnight violence outside made it anything but relaxing. The hotel itself has many positives, but based on our experience, we wouldn’t choose it again for a quiet or romantic stay.
