S79 Happy Hotel 1 Saigon

The staff are great, even the security guys, all lovely bar one guy who conducted his phone calls at 5am on the stairs.

The place is rotten; should be renamed SAD Hotel. My room had red ants in the bed and a stained sheet. I was offered another room after refusing a can of 'Raid' as their solution. This prompted me to pull the mattress cover back and the mattress was disgusting! Filthy, and fit for the dump! The next room was smelly because it wasn't used, and had been closed up with no ventilation. That's the room pictured with the bathroom ceiling missing and the AC unit remains visible. Why the Vietnamese do the minimum everything is beyond me, but sadly that's how they are. They bodge everything instead of being proud of a proper job. The next room I had to take because I was so tired having been on the night bus. I dare not look at the mattress, just put it out of my mind. In this room they couldn't even be bothered to hang a proper door to the bathroom! It's a folding door from a caravan! that's split in places and the magnet that holds it shut doesn't even line up with the one on the frame! It's a joke. There's 1 middle aged man who sits on the stairs shouting into his phone at 5am is obviously in the wrong job if he doesn't understand what a hotel is supposed to offer. After being woken up by him 2 mornings, my 3rd morning began at 3.50am with local guests crashing in the room next door, music loud, shouting as if they were at home. It went in for 2 hours or more. I was ready to break their door down. An uneducated couple who shouldn't be allowed out in public. Then there was the sound of food preparation coming from my ceiling. Being the top floor there's obviously the local banging one hears, like my neighbour where I live. All in all I should have been paid to stay there. I feel sorry for the staff because they deserve better. The owner is clearly more interested in lining his pockets than investing in his hotel and respecting his unnecessarily loyal staff! If booking.
