Location was good - away from the busy centre and with a beach right outside the hotel

When we checked into our room, we immediately found that the carpet was soaking wet. Not merely damp. There was a very strong chemical smell throughout the room, which made it clear that the carpet had just been cleaned. We reported this to the front desk that evening. We were told that the issue would be raised with the manager and that someone would contact us to resolve it. Nobody called our room. As it was already late, we had little choice but to go to bed in the room with the wet carpet and strong chemical smell. The following morning, the carpet was still soaking wet, so we raised the issue again with a different member of the front desk team. We explained that we would be going out and left our cell phone number with the front desk, specifically so that the manager could contact us. Once again, we were told the matter would be escalated and that someone would call us. Again, nobody contacted us. When we returned later that day, we discovered that someone had entered the room to clean and had evidently found the carpet still soaking wet. They placed towels all over the wet carpet. This was extremely disappointing and did nothing to actually resolve the problem!! What was most frustrating was not simply that the carpet was wet but also there was the complete lack of follow-through. We reported the problem twice, were repeatedly told that a manager would contact us, provided our phone number, and yet nobody ever contacted us, offered us another room, provided a meaningful solution, or offered any compensation. It was a terrible stay - we asked for a room overlooking the ocean but shouldnt have bothered paying the premium for this as we had to spend the night in a room with a soaking-wet carpet and strong chemical smell, with the problem still unresolved throughout our stay.

Location and view were excellent right on the beach. Loved breakfast by the sand.
