Canopy By Hilton Portland Waterfront

The location is great. It is right on the main drag in downtown Portland, a short walk to just about anywhere. If walking is not your thing, consider ride sharing or cabbing since parking downtown can be difficult and expensive. The staff is fantastic! They sent out an email a couple days before we arrived with details on the hotel and suggestions on things to do. We also called them to talk about parking and ended up Ubering from the airport and skipping the rental car entirely. The only downside is that the walls in the rooms are paper-thin. We could follow complete conversations from the room next door and could hear their TV clearly. The occupants changed during our stay, so unless we got two very loud groups, the walls are the issue. When they were up late or up early or up in the middle of the night, so were we. We could hear everything going on in the hallway and upstairs too, so this is not just one room's issue. Usually I deal with this by running the HVAC fan on low all night but the Canopy has gamed the HVAC so that even if the fan is set to run, it shuts off when the room reaches temperature. That may save a nominal amount of electricity, but it detracts from the room's comfort tremendously. I'd stay here again, but would cross my fingers that we get neighbors who are more quiet.

I love this hotel! I stay in the Old Port frequently and this is my favorite. The rooms are great and the staff is even better. I am a diamond member (working on diamond reserve) and got upgraded this week. We were delighted!
