Ovolo Sydney Woolloomooloo, a Wyndham Hotel

Location, outlook and size of rooms

The hotel is a construction site, and shouldn’t be operating. When we checked in we were told pool heating was broken. Builders with face masks for dust operating in high vis throughout but guests just left to deal with dust all through lifts and lobby, and noise each day. No place to relax in hotel bar or restaurant. Hotel staff unable to cut hotel keys for rooms or manage basic requests for room access - feels like the place is going out of business. Staff unable to permanently address key access to room, which is complete health and safety issue if a key is lost. Ruined our time in Sydney. Avoid this hotel. Tried to address all these issues with Manager who refused to apologise or understand our concerns, or make amends at the time. Interconnecting room doors broken & locked out and we were just offered a door stop which didn’t work. Really upset we were stuck here for our holiday.

It was in the perfect location easy to get in sand out of the city

I told them it was my birthday, and we had paid extra and booked the “Navy view room”, but we were right down near the main road and you had to press your nose right up to the glass window to see only one navy ship. That was pretty disappointing, it was a Sunday night and they weren’t fully booked. Also even though the pool was lovely it was really difficult to find after hours when the whole place was dark. In the morning there was a lot of noise of furniture being moved upstairs and outside as renovations were taking place but there was no mention of this on the website. I’m glad I wasn’t an overseas tourist and I’m glad that we only stayed one night. It was really too expensive for the facilities and the non-existent navyview”.

Location and staff were the real highlights

The gym is very basic; the property is still being finished; only valet parking but understand why
